This week the Institute of Technology Blanchardstown played host to the ITB heat of the Think Outside The Box Awards.
Sponsored by Enterprise Ireland, Invest Northern Ireland, Mammoth Brand Consultancy and Cruickshank Intellectual Property Attorneys, the Think Outside The Box Awards offers third level students from all academic disciplines and courses of study the opportunity to realise their entrepreneurial ambitions. All you need to do is demonstrate to the judges that your business idea is viable, well thought out and well researched, and you could be on your way to winning! The ITB heat of the awards was kindly sponsored by the Blanchardstown Centre and organised as part of the BrightSpark initiative. Six finalist teams presented to a panel of judges comprised of; Claire MacNamee – Enterprise Manager at the LINC, Pat O’Connor – Head of School of Business & Humanities at ITB, Anne-Marie Nolan – Lecturer in Marketing & Enterprise, Cormac McMahon – Lecturer in Mechatronics and local entrepreneur David Malone – Founder and MD of Bright Knights.
After presenting at the final in ITB to the judges, the winners were chosen as:
1st Place: Michael Meegan, Richard Reilly (4th year Entrepreneurship)
2nd Place: Nicola McGuirk, Carolanne Murray, Megan O’Shaughnessy, Lynsey Bell (3rd year general business), Bryan Byrne, Sean Lock, Eoghain O’Neill (4th year Entrepreneurship).
