Five Shortlisted Companies to Battle it Out For JumpStart 2016 Top Prize!

The LINC (Learning and Innovation Centre) at the Institute of Technology Blanchardstown (ITB), are happy to announce the shortlist for their annual business start up competition ‘JumpStart 2016’ now in its seventh year. Five Dublin businesses have been shortlisted from an incredible array of entries from Irish Entrepreneurs.  The quality of entries keeps growing with their originality and enterprise ensuring that 2016 will be a tough year to pick an overall winner.

JumpStart is an annual competition that awards a winning business start with €10,000 cash plus an office space at the LINC for one year.

The five companies that have been shortlisted for JumpStart 2016 are:

  1. Chinnery Spirits
  2. InvizBox
  3. Kickabout
  4. PhysioLinked
  5. Sproose

The JumpStart 2016 shortlist will be judged on 6th December when the shortlisted entrants will get the unique opportunity to present their ideas to Ireland’s best known and liked entrepreneurs, Bobby Kerr with other judges including Shane Doyle Vice President for Manufacturing Ireland, Alexion Pharmaceuticals Inc, Oisin Geoghegan, Head of Local Enterprise, Local Enterprise Office Fingal, Declan Lyons, Commercialisation Manager, Enterprise Ireland and Padraig Challoner, Business Manager at AIB.

JumpStart 2016 is sponsored by the LINC, Alexion Pharmaceuticals,  Fingal Local Enterprise Office and AIB.

Profiles of Finalists:

  1. Chinnery Spirits

Chinnery Spirits was founded by Marie Byrne in 2016 and is in the process of launching a major new international gin brand with its first and flagship product, Chinnery Gin where Chinnery Spirits are combining a base classic dry gin made in London (by Thames Distillers) with a spirit distilled at their Dublin facility featuring more unusual botanicals. The blending and bottling of the gin will happen at a specialist bottler in Waterford city.

  1. Invizbox Ltd

This is InvizBox Ltd’s second time to be shortlisted as they were runner up in JumpStart 2016. Co-founded by husband and wife, Paul Canavan, Elizabeth Canavan (from Skerries) and Chris Monks (from  Rush), InvizBox Privacy Made Easy is the world leader in highly configurable with their easy to use “plug and play” devices which secure your communications and provide privacy. All one needs to do is connect your phone, laptop, etc. over WiFi and that’s it! Your communications are encrypted as they travel across the Internet, keeping them secure from prying eyes.

  1. Kickabout

Gary originally from Limerick now living in Dublin founded Kickabout in 2015.  A proprietary software solution Kickabout allows football players to create and organise a game of football easily and quickly as an app via a smartphone. The app allows pitch owners to manage their bookings and advertise directly to users.  It works in a similar manner to the Hailo Taxi App where the taxi drivers are the owners and the passengers are the players. Gary was a former Ireland youth International footballer with caps at u15 and u18 level and trials with Arsenal FC in London.

  1. PhysioLinked

Creator, Sonia Neary from Dublin founded PhysioLinked in 2015. PhysioLinked is the of the physiotherapy world.  Offering not just lead generation but also a complimentary streamlined practice management system for physiotherapists. For patients, they exclusively list vetted clinicians, verified reviews and offer reduced package rates.

  1. Sproose

Sproose is Dublin’s new on-demand laundry and dry-cleaning service. Sproose collect, clean and deliver your laundry direct to your door or desk. Founded by Conor Wilson and Pat McKenna in 2015, the software platform empowers dry cleaners to modernize, grow and develop their businesses.
